Steam desuperheaters

Solutions

Manufacturing range

Steam desuperheating systems reduce the steam temperature by injecting lower-temperature water. Additionally,
these systems regulate and reduce steam pressure. Steam pressure reduction must be performed using a severe service control valve with a multistage solution and
silencing plates for the most critical superheated steam cases. For more information, refer to the technical datasheet of the 3595 control valve.

Solutions are offered for different types of desuperheaters:

Type 1: Nozzle Type: Simple configuration when process data is not in the severe service range.

Type 2: Venturi Type: Commonly used when low water pressure is available.

Type 3: Integrated Solution: Combination of the pressure-reducing valve and the desuperheater in a single
element.

Type 1: Nozzle Type

The simplest and most compact way to reduce steam temperature by injecting water droplets precisely. The combination of variable nozzles and the high rangeability Multistep internals of the 3595 valve ensures precise desuperheating in ratios of 1:10.

Type 2: Venturi Type:

The pressure-reducing valve and Venturi desuperheating unit is the most common system for reducing high-pressure,
high-temperature steam without excessive noise or vibration.

Main components:
A. Venturi-type desuperheating unit with variable water injection nozzles for fine droplet atomization.
B. Compact WAFER-type diffuser plates included in an expansion cone to control velocity properly.
C. 3595 valve with PILOT-balanced closure and multistage guided box.

Type 3: Integrated Solution

Also known as pressure-reducing stations, they combine the desuperheater and pressure-reducing valve in a single
body. This ensures good control for low steam flows and effective energy management at high flows with high
pressure drops.

The 3595 valve with PILOT-balanced closure and multistage guided box is also used in these cases.
